Cadillac teases the upcoming Optiq-V, a high-performance electric crossover set to join the V-Series lineup with enhanced power and agility.
Cadillac has offered a sneak peek at the high-performance variant of its upcoming Optiq electric crossover, aptly named the Optiq-V. Set to be fully unveiled later this year, the Optiq-V promises an aggressive exterior makeover, enhanced power output, and refined handling characteristics, injecting a dose of excitement into Cadillac’s entry-level EV offering.
While the standard Cadillac Optiq, with its dual-motor setup producing 300 horsepower and a benchmark 0-60 mph sprint around the 5-second mark, has already garnered positive initial impressions for its smooth ride and adequate range, Cadillac aims to elevate the driving experience with the Optiq-V.
Teaser images released by the automaker reveal a more aggressive front fascia, mirroring the design language of the recently unveiled Lyriq-V. The rear of the Optiq-V also showcases a subtle yet sporty carbon fiber rear trunk lid spoiler and prominent V badges, signifying its performance-oriented nature. Unique and more aggressive wheel designs will further distinguish the Optiq-V.
Cadillac emphasizes that the Optiq-V’s enhancements go beyond mere aesthetics. Development engineers have reportedly focused intently on delivering superior steering precision and engineering a dynamic suspension system, building upon the standard Optiq’s already agile driving dynamics. Furthermore, larger brakes will be implemented to effectively manage the anticipated increase in power.
While Cadillac has yet to release official performance specifications for the Optiq-V, speculation arises from its larger sibling, the Lyriq-V. If the Optiq-V borrows the Lyriq-V’s dual-motor powertrain, it could potentially boast an impressive output of 515 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Such figures would likely propel the Optiq-V to a 0-60 mph acceleration time of under 4 seconds, offering a significant performance upgrade over the standard model.
Interestingly, Cadillac’s messaging suggests that the Optiq-V, similar to the Lyriq-V, will be tuned for comfortable daily driving rather than outright track performance or setting lap records. This indicates a focus on delivering a more engaging and responsive driving experience in everyday scenarios.
The teaser information suggests that the Optiq-V will likely retain the standard Optiq’s 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack. However, due to the expected increase in power and a more performance-oriented driving style, the Optiq-V’s range is anticipated to be lower than the standard dual-motor Optiq’s EPA-rated 302 miles.
The standard Cadillac Optiq dual-motor has a starting price of $54,390, including the destination charge. Given the performance upgrades and exclusive styling cues, the Optiq-V is expected to command a premium. Based on the pricing strategy of the Lyriq-V, industry speculation suggests that the sportier Optiq-V may launch with a price tag above $70,000.
The Cadillac Optiq-V is poised to become the fifth V-series model in Cadillac’s current lineup, joining the CT4-V, CT5-V, Escalade-V, and Lyriq-V. Its full reveal is scheduled for later this summer, with the official date and time yet to be announced.
